Wondering What’s on God’s Mind About Melanin and Pigment and People
The more I’m seeing blatant injustice in America and around the world, the more of course I’m asking God those three little letters – W H Y- like a clueless child.
Why is it “at home” and abroad people of deeper pigment are more often times than not negatively treated even in their own land, on their own soil, or in a country they were forced to build with their own blood, their children’s blood, and their children’s children’s blood.
The obvious conclusion would be – this melanin must be a curse?
But if God created all men and women in his image – How can this melanin be a curse?
If God said “Let us make man in our image” (Gen. 1:26) and people with more melanin and deeper pigment are also made in God’s image –
Why is the image of God being marginalized, brutalized, and killed by less melanated men?
The injustice is likely easier if we believe there is no God.
If we do believe there is a God and still practice injustice based on the amount of pigment a person has in his or her skin – then what does that make us?
And what does the God that made us think of what is being done against his image?
